Welcome Week 2022

Welcome Week 2022

Hello everyone! We hope you’ve had a great Fresher’s Week and are looking forward to starting all of your modules next week. Firstly, congratulations! Congratulations to all of the new First Years, new Masters students, new PhD students and to all of our returning members coming back after the summer 🎉 CSS has got lots of plans and we’re keen to get every one of you involved in something fun and interesting to you. As ever, the best places to find out about our activities are Discord, Instagram and Facebook. We’d especially recommend joining the Discord to meet new people and chat with all the rest of us CS students.

Autumn 2021: Back in person and better than ever

Autumn 2021: Back in person and better than ever

For the last few years, each has been a record breaker for CSS. 2021 was no different for us, as we broke new records and set new achievements. We have been able to make a return to in person events, and together with the continued success of the Discord server, we have reached an all time high for memberships. CSS has also set a new record of 25 events and activities in the 13 weeks of the first semester.

CSS in 2019-20 and the EPS Awards

It is fair to say that CSS has had another successful year. In September 2019, the School welcomed over 800 new students, and we have now reached almost 300 members - which is an all time high! The Committee has worked hard over the last 14 months to bring over 60 events, from starting our series of Developer Student Club workshops, to our big events like the CSS Ball. We’ve also collaborated with many other societies around campus, including AFNOM, oSTEM, Startup Society and others.

AGM 2020: Committee Election Results

On Wednesday this week, the ballots for the Committee Elections closed as part of our 2020 AGM. The Guild have now sent over to us and we are proud to announce our new committee for the academic year 2020-21.

AGM 2020: Chair's and Treasurer's Reports

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused a lot of disruption worldwide to everybody, CSS included. Usually we would hold our Committee Elections in March as part of our Annual General Meeting. The AGM was planned to take place on Tuesday 17th March 2020. We were aware that due to the impending restrictions which would come, many society members may have already travelled home or would not want to meet at an event. Therefore, we decided to postpone the meeting until such a time we could hold a meeting and election in such a way that it would be fair and inclusive.

AGM 2020: An Introduction

Currently, we are holding our elections for next year’s committee as part of our (now online) Annual General Meeting (AGM). The committee’s role within the society is to manage the group and organise all of the events which are run throughout the event - everything from the tech workshops to the big events such as our annual Ball. Committee is also responsible for managing the group’s finances and recruiting new members.
